Three tall ships will visit Tampa July 10 - 14. The ships will be open for tours during their stay here. I recommend touring one of these magnificent ships. I will bring the family to tour the US tall ship Eagle that will be docked at Channelside.

Midsummer Eve in Sweden today

Today Sweden is celebrating Midsummer with pickled herring, snaps, beer and Swedish Strawberry Cake. On Sunday Swedes in the Tampa Bay area can join the Swedish Club of Tampa Bay's annual midummer fest. They will be celebrating in the beautiful Fort de Soto Park, Shelter 1, fee for attending is $15 for non-member families or $7 per person. You are asked to additionally bring a typical Swedish midsummer dish to this event that starts at 2pm. You can always bring a Swedish Strawberry Cake to the event, on a reader's kind request I will share the recipe for the cake our kids made last weekend.

Traditional Swedish pea soup made of dried yellow peas and bacon is sooo good, add Swedish thin pancakes with whipped cream and lingonsylt and you have a heavenly meal of the best Swedish comfort food. The Swedish Club of Sarasota is hosting a Peasoup and Pancake event on March 7 at 3 pm in the St Armands Key Lutheran Church, Sarasota. I will take my family for a drive to beautiful Sarasota and enjoy pea soup in the company of the nice and friendly Swedes of Sarasota!

" We just got confirmed that the 1973 Nobel Prize Winner in Physics Mr. Ivar Giaever has accepted to speak at our upcoming Luncheon & Annual meeting.

Mr. Giaever is in Tampa for just a limited amount of days so it is a great honor to have a Scandinavian Nobel Prize winner to address SBTA and answer questions from us.

SBTA is really gearing up for a new and exciting year and I'm happy to announce that we are growing and have received additional members in 2009.

We are proud to recently have received recognition as Tampa Bay's leading trade and networking organization within the Scandinavian-American business community in central Florida by the mayor of Tampa, Greater Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce, the World Trade Center, University of South Florida and  and the participation at the 2010 International Business Summit this spring".
