En makaloes manick

A picture named M2

This cool gadget is made in Sweden, and visited Tampa last Friday, guess what it does!

This little mobile wondermachine captures images, biometrics, and signatures. Last Friday, intstead of flying to Washington with my kids to renew our Swedish passports we could conveniently drive to south Tampa to get our passport applications done. Not only did we get our applications done we were also splurged with Swedish coffee and plenty of Dajm, Dammsugare, Ballerina cookies and other Swedish treats. Our honorary consul of Tampa made an excellent job with this first mobile passport day at the Consulate in Tampa. Ms Anna Lambert from the Swedish Embassy in Washington  took our applications and entered into her computer, the machine then captured our images, finger prints and signatures.  The information was immediately sent to the Swedish Police that issues Swedish passports. The passports are sent to the Embassy in Washington and later forwarded to our Consulate in Tampa!. Ms Anna Lambert and her mobile passport unit will travel all over the US to take up passport applications. A very good initiative from the Swedish Embassy indeed.  Read more here about this interesting pilot project http://www.swedenabroad.com/News____7067.aspx?slaveid=102666.
