Yes, Swedish women lie in court - and sometimes they do not get away with it

Assange will probably be extradited to Sweden and will face isolation in prison while being interrogated for rape, sexual molestation and coercion. He might even be tried in a District Court with a jury with members picked from political parties, he might even be convicted if there are enough jury men from Anna Ardin's party to decide on a conviction. However, he will stand a better chance in the Court of Appeal if convicted in the District Court.  I found two interesting cases referred in Dagens Juridik.

Woman lies about sexual molestation - case dismissed by the Court of Appeal

A woman and a 21-year-old man where caught alone in a pool room making out by the woman's boyfriend. The woman claimed that she had been molested by the 21-year-old and was upset after the incident. The District Court found the man guilty of sexual molestation by pressing her against a pool table, push his groin against her and touch her breasts, thighs and groin.
The Court of Appeal finds that both accuser and accused are trustworthy but that their stories differ on why and on who suggested they leave the party and what happened in the pool room. The Court of Appeals claim that it is not impossible that the woman, when her boyfriend came into the room felt that she had to accuse the 21-year-old for molestation and that there is no evidence supporting her allegations of sexual molestation. Case dismissed.

Woman lies about rape - case dismissed by the Court of Appeal

An 18-year-old is accused of having raped his girlfriend when she was asleep at three different occasions. The 18-year-old was charged for having abused his girlfriend when she was asleep and thereby helpless. The prosecutor used Facebook communication as evidence, the 18-year-old had admitted to rape and that he was very regretful. The 18-year-old told the District Court though that he had admitted to rape on Facebook only to get his girlfriend back.
The Court of Appeal found it doubtful if the man could have had sex the way it was described when the girlfriend was asleep and the case was dismissed.
